In Rwanda, farmers often watch their crops rot before they reach the market. Ox Delivers changes that.

Esperance Dushakimana looks out over a potato field in northern Rwanda’s Musanze district. “It’s tough,” she says. “We till the land, sow the seeds, reap the crops, and watch helplessly as at least a fifth of them withers before they can reach the market.” Vincent, a mushroom farmer from Rhubabu just 30 miles away・Ngamije is forced to cross the border and sell his harvest cheaper in Congo, rather than in Rwanda’s capital Kigali, where it can be bought at a higher price. “The market in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is only 40 minutes away. In contrast, my mushrooms require five hours in a warm truck to reach Kigali,” he says. “Barely 40% survive.”
