Michael Karoly: Yeah.
Lauren Good: Yeah.
Michael Karoly: Zoe, what about you?
Zoe Schiffer: My total screen time. I actually looked it up before and I think it was about 3 hours and 40 minutes on my phone. I honestly think this is amazing. You’re raising your eyebrows, Mike, why would you do that? Only a few minutes of that are actually posted on social media apps. I feel like I deserve the Medal of Honor.
Michael Calois: You truly deserve the Medal of Honor. I have a timer on my phone that goes off if I use Instagram for more than 20 minutes. I pressed that timer every day.
Lauren Good: This is not a joke. he follows this. I’ve sent Mike a meme before, but he never responded. We work across the newsroom from each other, so sometimes I literally go to his desk and ask, “Did you see what I sent you?”
Zoe Schiffer: I’m thirsty.
Lauren Good: No, I do. He’ll say, “No, we’re out of time,” and I’ll say, “Are you complying with that? Check the meme.”
Michael Calore: Have you ever thought about quitting the app?
Lauren Good: Always.
Michael Karoly: Always?
Lauren Good: I’m daydreaming about it at the moment. How about not always feeling like you have to air something?
Michael Karoly: Yeah. Zoe, what about you?
Zoe Schiffer: To be honest, I haven’t been on my phone much, but I’ve been on maternity leave for a few months, so the answer is, I’m always thinking about being away from my phone, and I’m not sure how much time I’ll have. I’m honestly surprised that it’s working. You can spend money on your phone even if you don’t use social media apps. what about you?
Michael Calore: I often feel the urge to throw my phone across the room and never look at it again, but I always end up picking it up and calling again.
Lauren Good: It’s always after I send him a bad meme.
Michael Calore: Yeah, or I came up with a joke.
Lauren Good: Yeah.
Michael Karoly: I have to play skeet right now. Yeah. Well, today we’re going to talk about exactly that. Is it time to step away from social media? There are so many types of social apps and platforms out there, but since we are verbal people, we use the ones we use the most: text-based social sites. focus on.
