NASA Astronauts Wilmore and Williams Conclude Historic Space Mission
Return to Earth Scheduled for Tuesday Evening
NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are preparing for their return to Earth after an impressive nine-month stay in space. The splashdown is set for Tuesday evening, with the recovery process taking place shortly thereafter.
Extended Stay at the International Space Station
Initially, Wilmore and Williams were slated to spend only around a week aboard the International Space Station (ISS). However, their mission duration was extended due to technical difficulties encountered with the Boeing Starliner capsule, which was intended for their transport back to Earth.
Safe Journey Home with SpaceX Dragon
For their return, Wilmore and Williams will ride in a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. They will be joined by fellow NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, marking a collaborative effort between NASA and Roscosmos in space exploration.
